I’m no longer content with burying stories like this in weekly links lists. These types of actions need to be brought to general attention in the same ways under which people are being attacked.

  1. I have not read this book cited as one of the problems but if this blurb via the Amazon listing is correct then there is a bit of a problem: “Some people are boys. Some people are girls. Some people are both, neither, or somewhere in between.”

I don’t see that as particularly helpful in combatting stereotypes with young children. Better to start with a broad stereotype busting approach to what it means to be male and female.

That said – the people objecting seem mostly to be the worst of the worst when it comes to any kind of broader understanding of … well, anything but their extremist supremacist viewpoints.

I definitely agree with you about the “extremist supremacist viewpoints,” Josie! Thanks for reading and commenting.
