Introductory Notes


Gillian Flynn grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended the University of Kansas, where she studied English and journalism. After two years of working for a trade magazine in California, she moved to Chicago and earned a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University. She subsequently moved to New York City and worked for Entertainment Weekly magazine for 10 years. 

Flynn’s first novel, Sharp Objects, was a finalist for an Edgar Award and won two British Dagger Awards. Her second novel, Dark Places, was named to several “best books” lists. Her third novel, Gone Girl, was one of the runaway best sellers of summer 2012.

Gillian Flynn lives in Chicago with her husband and son.
